Tying Tips

Not quite sure this will go anywhere, but I figured it was worth a try to answer some of the tying questions that I often receive from fellow fly tiers.  In this short video, I discuss and demonstrate the technique I use to blend different shades of laser dub as well as the method I prefer in building a head with the same material.  Click the link to check the video.

Too Soon For This.....

Yesterday while mowing my lawn it really dawned on me that although nice, it's much too soon for the summer like temperatures we are currently experiencing.  When your lawn is more arid than a bowl of popcorn and your sucking dust for the duration of the chore, you quickly realize somethings not right.  I had to go back in and check the calendar to make sure I hadn't been a victim of amnesia, yes, OK I was right it is May 9th and not August 9th.

Nothing Like Stalking Brookies On Small Water

Although the fishing has been good in the last 10-14 days, if something doesn't give even our tail water fisheries are going to be a short lived option round here really quickly.  I think I read on the Delaware river clubs blog that the main stem has already hit water temps of 75!!!  That my friend is not a good thing to say the least for us trout fishermen.

Another Nice Brown Who Inhaled A New Crippled Pattern
All things being equal, in the limited jaunts that I have had on the water, I have actually had some fairly nice fish to hand, and I'm not referring to those recently stocked 2 year old trout that look like they went through a couple of rounds of chemical enhancement at the Balco facility either.   Most importantly, a couple of interesting new fly patterns that I have been working on are showing some great promise and will most likely be showcased in some new videos by years end.  Until then however, lets pray for rain and hope things resort to normal.

Lastly, I apologize for those of you looking forward to that streamer class, but some other obligations have once again conceded that effort.  Hopefully if all goes as planned we can reschedule that one soon.  Have fun out there....

Scenes From The Weekend

As our free time becomes more limited in the Strolis household, it's times like these that make it well worth it.  As the river's finally came alive this weekend, me and the important one's in my life decided to salvage an afternoon enjoying the outdoors.  Doesn't get much better than this, and it wasn't all about the fish or how many likes we get on Facebook either.
